December 24, 2000: Lillian's home
Hong Kong is a warm place, most people say so. There is no heating system in a hotel. I at last got a cold and have to take a rest today.

In the afternoon, Lillian came to the hotel and we went out for shopping. The target is to get good sport shoes for me and for my husband.
Chinese tea was one of my souvenir items. Lillian kindly took us to a tea specialty store. I could get some kinds of good tea there.
I can gather various kinds of candies and cookies upon my preference. I should have got much more cookies because they turned to be really tasty when I took them after returning Japan.

Lillian took us to many good shops and negotiates the price. Thanks to her, we could enjoy shopping today.
As we got many souvenirs, we once returned to the hotel to put them in the room. At the hotel, we came across a brilliant group: a just married couple. The groom was in suit, but the bride was in traditional Chinese wedding dress. I asked them to take picture.
Today is Christmas Eve. Many families and young people are everywhere in the street.

Today, we are invited to Lillian's home. We got a train from Hung Hom terminal and arrived at Shatin we visited yesterday.

This is a large Christmas decoration in Shatin terminal hall. Life size ballerina dolls are dancing elegantly on the turning stage.
Lillian bought a cheesecake in this shop. She said her mother loves it very much.
We then visited Hong Kong Heritage Museum just opened on December 17.

Cantonese Opera exhibition or Hong Kong's Housing history were very interesting foe me.
From the Museum, we got on a taxi and arrived at Lillian's home in a high rising skyscraper apartment complex. Lillian's home is located in a seashore side. Lillian said they moved from another apartment just opposite of the channel a week ago. I was deeply moved to meet Lillian's parents and her younger sister Doris. Thank you very much to all of a good family.
The apartment is in a very large scale complex provided with underground parking lot and spacious lobby with a security check station.

All the facilities of the home were great. Lillian and Doris guided me through the house. There were still some corrugated cartons in the room. It must have been a big work to cook and invite us in a mess, thank you very much.
Lillian's father, Mr. Raymond Chow, and mother, Connie, prepared wonderful fish dishes with different kind of sauces. Soup and Tofu were tasty as well.

Raymond is an active businessman based in Canton City, China. He shuttles back to home every weekend. He and my husband were pleasantly chatting in English.
The dessert today was an unusual fruit called "Dragon tongue." It looks like a kind of vegetable, but white pulp dotted with sesame-like seeds appears from inside. The taste was so good that I ate very much.

Lillian's father returned home yesterday in order to welcome us and he will return to Canton City early tomorrow morning. Please come to Japan together next time.

We got a taxi from the apartment complex. Lillian and Doris anxiously saw us off.
