The basic concept of my life comes from the activities in "Group of Friend." The Group is a gathering of the readers of a magazine "Females' Friend"(Japanese only), which was established by Mr. Yoshikazu Hani and Mrs. Motoko Hani. The magazine has recently celebrated its 95 anniversary, in addition, the Group of Friend will have the 70th one in 2000. As my mother is an old member of the group, it was very natural for me to believe that women should have joined the Group when got married. I joined the Group in Nagoya upon my husband's move there just after the marriage.
Since then, the local Group welcomed me every time we moved to a new city. We talk about the basic items for the households such as food, clothing, and shelter; or children care, and house account keeping. Every time we come together, we pick up topics and discuss over them asking to ourselves, "What is the most important thing we should do now?" It is very happy to be in such a useful environment for daily life.
In the Branch meeting, we also read and study books and discuss about impressions of them, always finding new things to learn. We also have a pleasant time by cooking dishes, baking cookies, and teaching each other how to keep a household account book. Currently, we are preparing busily for a lecture to be held soon under the title of "How to keep through a household account." I am assigned to a leader of the planning section of lectures next year, and I have already put hands in it. I love a phrase by Mrs. Motoko Hani, "To be surrounded by many friends like a quiet wild flower."
