August 4, 2003: Farm life
On the farm, breakfast preparation starts at before six in the morning by two groups.
I belong to the first group and went to the cowshed to receive milk. Mr. Ubukata, the master of the farm, poured raw milk into my milk can.
During that, milking is under way.
After breakfast, we had a pray starting at 8:00.
On the study class, we discussed how to work with kids in keeping a petty cash book.
In the afternoon, 48 kids gathered from all around the country to join the "Life experience school."
The school opened in the after the lunch. Self-introduction was followed by group making and learned how to do in the school under the leader of a high school student from Jiyu Gakuen.
Each kid makes their own name plate.
An orientation tour started, Kids are very happy on the wagon pulled by the tractor painted with lovely illustrations.
As the wagon has a capacity, other kids try to make "Bamboo charcoal. A small oven was prepared in advance for it."
Cutting bamboo first.
The kids met each other just before, but they became good friends quickly and cut the bamboo together.
During that, adults also enjoyed a short tour on the wagon.
Sweet melon and home-made cookie are served in the break.
Well, the high school leaders filled the oven with the cut bamboo. Ignition! Smoke started to rise. We hope to get good bamboo charcoal.
All the attendants this time got together to take dinner. Some adult members explained how the dinner was prepared with demonstration.
Wonderful meat loaf, corn soup, and potato salad were cooked as scheduled.

We took them after the pray.
