September 29, 2001:Brewery in Milwaukee

We continued going up I-94 and arrived Milwaukee where Don had once lived some 25 years ago. Don's family doesn't drink beer usually, but he planned to visit the brewery for us.

Miller is the biggest brewery in Milwaukee. There are many displays telling the history of the factory in the lobby and shopping corner sells many souvenirs.

Many visitors joined the tour. We viewed the history of the factory and beer brewing process. Then we walked to the plant, which looked like being under remodeling. They keep old historical buildings as well.

Large brewers are shinning in the factory. Unfortunately, we couldn't see downstream of bottling and packing process due to holiday.

A symbol mark of the Millar beer tells the history of the company: The founder met a pretty girl with beautiful flower in hand in moonlight and he got an inspiration to found a brewery. It is an idyll, indeed.

Thee are many old buildings in the factory including old castle-like building. They look like old German building as the technology might have imported from Germany.

This is an old cellar. It is now used as a museum that restores old atmosphere of the days. The air was cool here.

Many visitors were delighted to visit their final target. Yes, this is a tasting room. There is no limit in drinking. Non-alcoholic beverages are also served. My husband enjoyed very much and satisfied.

We arrived at a hotel, which Mayumi looked for through the net. The hotel was new and clean. There is a mini-kitchen in the room. We brewed coffee and made popcorn.

Milwaukee is a beautiful town with a good harmony of old building and new building. There must be many memories of Mr. Don in his young days. Today, I was very glad to be taken here.
