September 30, 2001: Harvest festival

The weather is really beautiful today. We visited a local harvest festival in the suburbs of Milwaukee. I found a logo mark of Miller, Moon Lady, in the site.

I heard an erupt in cheers from a corner. What was that? Yes, it was from a square filled with straw. Kids and adults were happily making scarecrows in the mess.

We bought used jeans and shits by paying $5 and filled them with straw to make a scarecrow. Mayumi and I enjoyed making it together with her kids.

This is our work.

The scarecrow became a member of our family. This is a farmer's stand selling many kinds of crops. The shape and color are different from each other, but they are all fresh.

They sell large pumpkin for Halloween and colorful corns. The color was so beautiful and I wished to bring them back to Japan.

Don's Cadillac became crowded with a new family of scarecrow. On our way back home, we dropped in a small festival called Apple Sunday near the border of Illinois State. A small volunteer group opens the festival. An old tool squeezes Apple.

Craft making using dried apple pieces.

The rose garden was really good.
Beautiful herb garden refreshed me.

We enjoyed the beautiful autumnal day.

In the end, we took dinner in a seafood restaurant near home.
