1998 September : This month flower
Mieko Nagano Oita city, Japan
When we returned home after two months' travel in the US, from May 15th to July 15th,
we found our garden was completely covered with so thick green foliage. During the most flourishing season of the year, flowers and weeds have covered all the kitchen garden and flower stands leaving no border lines of them. I haven't been aware of the fruition of Bungo ume tree at last. But a persimmon tree are bearing many fruits for the first time after I planted it three years ago. I am expecting the taste of the still green fruits. We trimmed all the trees and grasses in the garden to spend a hot humid summer in a refreshing condition.
The other day, I saw a lovely flower blooming in a planter. What was surprising, it was
Torenia with tiny violet flower. I was really moved by the amazing ability to survive of the flower because I thought I had uprooted it together with weeds. It is shining in my garden with
almost no flowers in bloom.
