July 15: So many things in Yufuin today
by Mie
Today, I visited with my husband Arden tearoom in Yufuin to do many things. This is Ms. Otani, the owner of the tearoom. She is always shining along with her red iMac PC.
We are here today to have a "mini off-line meeting" with Mr. Tsukahara from Tokyo on vacation. He carries a mobile PC with him.
Ms. Yuki Furushou, a challenging lady in Yufuin, made arrangement for the meeting. She brought-in a tasty blue berry cake box. Thank you so much!
Refreshing summer green is shining outside. The spacious tearoom is filled with pleasant chatting over the spicy aroma of curried rice dish.

From left Kurita from Beppu, Yoshino in Yufuin, Tsukahara from Tokyo, Matsumura from Oita, Ohira of Kijima amusement park, Ono of Yufuin, Furusho, and my husband Ken.
After the pleasant meeting, I visited "Bike museum in Yufuin." The top of Mt. Yufu is covered with a piece of gray cloud.
This is the museum run by Mr. Aikawa who has recently joined Yufuin-net mailing list and Food bulletin board. Click the image to enlarge.
Next stop was Kamenoi Besso hotel. Yunotake-an, a traditional Japanese style restaurant, was rebuilt and opened recently. The straw-thatched restaurant keeps good-old memories of the original one.

At Tensou shrine on the shore of Kinrin pond, a traditional Kagura dance is being dedicated to the god of the shrine. This is a part of summer festival of the local town. A cool, refreshing green breeze carries the pleasant sound of Kagura music played by Shounai Kagura Preservation club. Local residents enjoy a peaceful time in the shade of the big trees. Yes, this is a shot of Japanese landscape.
From 7:00 p.m., we had a kick-off meeting of Yufuin Music Festival staff at tearoom Kitayama, which was newly opened last year. Click the picture to enlarge.
