 Next performance is famous "Extermination of Dragons." An aged couple is in deep grief about the fate of their beautiful daughter "Kushinada" who is to be offered as a sacrifice to the violent dragons having eight heads each. Here comes a hero called "Susanouno-Mikoto" who was expelled from the paradise because of his crude activities. He has a good idea to help the aged parents and the daughter. They are very happy to hear of it and leave the scene with a delightful dance. |
 What is his good idea? He soon prepares large casks of filled with sake. He intends to make dragons get drunk and kill. Here he arranges casks in front of the nest of the dragons. |
 Now dragons are creeping out one by one. Their eyes are glaring and breathing fire. |
 Surprisingly, six monstrous dragons showed up. They are really great. They soon lured to sake casks and sniff them. |
 The dragons are pleased with delicious sake and are dancing in joy. A player is in the head part to maneuver violently the monstrous costume by standing, sitting, and spinning. The costume is so heavy and hot inside. I feel I just see a Godzilla movie. |
 The six dragons are now got drunkard and collapsed in a heap on the ground. The movement looks like very real. |
 In the meantime, Susanouno-Mikoto quietly creeps out from behind the dragons. He bravely attacks drunkard dragons, but they are not so easy killed. They fight back fiercely with breathing fire from mouth and body. Firecrackers explode, fireworks make fire falls, and smoke fills the stage. It is really a grandeur stage. |
 I soon found the lawn site was filled with spectators. Young people enjoy as well. I suppose some of them will hand down the traditional art like Kagura. Shonai Kagura became famous internationally by performing Kagura dance in corporation with jazz bands in Australia last year. They will visit Korea this fall to offer its performance to Korean gods. |
 After the festival, a lottery was held by checking the number on a fan I got at the entrance. Unfortunately, we couldn't get any prizes like Shonai peer and other goods. At the finale, beautiful fireworks sparkled in the night sky. It was a pleasant summer festival indeed. |
