Eerie clouds appeared on central Oita before seven in the morning. |
I took a bus to Kumamoto City to attend a meeting. I soon fell into a doze. When I got up after a while, I was surprised to find a snow covered landscape. | ![]() |

In addition, snow blew laterally. The weather forecast last night said that we would have a heavy snow storm, but it was far beyond my anticipation. |

Passing Taketa city, snow became deeper. The houses near Oita-Kumamoto border were covered with thick snow. |
I make it a rule to visit Kumamoto by car, but I was really lucky to change my plan and got a bus. I wouldn't be able to drive in such weather. | ![]() |

But the snow quickly disappeared when the bus entered Ohtsu town and closed to Kumamoto airport. The rice paddies were still in green. I found that only a short distance divide the landscape. |
The ginkgoes in the square of Kumamoto Prefectural Office were almost became bare. Some sweepers were cleaning the beautiful golden leaves endlessly. | ![]() |
