February 20, 2005: Central Park
The first dawn through the window of Hotel Marriot La Guardia. Many waterfowl flew away somewhere.
Morning walk. The air is cold and crispy but the sky is very beautiful.
I headed to Manhattan by a taxi. Empire State Building came into sight through the front glass of the yellow cab.
We will stay at Pennsylvania hotel just in front of Penn station for convenience.
When I turn a corner, I can find new sight like this. High soaring buildings and thin sky are one of my favorite scene. I am really happy to see them again, great!Click the picture to enlarge.
I will meet our close friend Ms. Consuelo at the hotel. As I had a short time before that, I walked in Macy's next door of the hotel. Old wooden escalator tells the long history of the department store.
Ms. Consuelo has been a good friend of mine more than ten years. She often visits my home page. I met her and was glad to know that she was in good condition as usual. She guided us to Central Park.
Dakota house stands at the corner of 72nd street. I wanted to visit here because John Lennon had once been a resident of the building.

In the previous trip to America to commemorate my husband's retirement, we stayed at an apartment nearby for one week and enjoyed NYC.
I saw on Japanese TV about this "Orange Gate" festival just before we left Japan. So many people come to see it. Click the picture to enlarge.
By looking up the sky, bare twigs are very beautiful.
Bare winter park has another beauty compared with full green scenery.
The Lake in the park was almost completely frozen.Click the picture to enlarge.
Strawberry was one of my target this time. I could visit the site at last.
Behind it was "Imagine Field".John Lennon was shot by an assassin there. I was shocked by the news at the apartment in Chicago we lived at that time. I still remember the bad news clearly. Click the picture to enlarge.
Many people stand by the monument quietly dedicating small flower piece. It is good to throw just a single piece of flower that symbolize the heart of the dedicator. I regret that I didn't do like so.
There are many benches in the park. I sat on a bench a little apart from the monument. On my back is 72 street and Dakota house. Click the picture to enlarge.
We returned back to the entrance at 72 street. Many visitors flocked to buy poster card.
For me, the monument was hard to understand its meaning, though.
