October 6, 2001: Williams' House in Vienna

Ms. JoAnn kindly reserved a B&B for us. JoAnn's old friend runs the B&B, William's House. The House is a large wonderful residence built in 1902 and carefully maintained until today. I enjoyed exploration the wonderful House filled with old things, antiques and memorabilia from a wonderful family now grown.

This is the room we stay tonight. White and Blue carpet, wonderful tapestry and curtain, clean bedcover, all make me feel delighted.

This is a room decorated with lovely handmade frilled canopy and antique furniture.

In the morning, the weather has cleared up and wonderful autumnal colors surround the House. In the dinning room, the table has already set for seven guests. I said good morning to Barbara, the owner and host of the William's House. She wears a clean apron and explained me the wonderful breakfast.

Barbara's art are on the table, her proud French toast, crispy bacon, soft egg, bagels and muffins, and even warm hashed potato.

On the shelf are orange juice and house brew coffee. Wonderful tableware makes me very happy. Barbara kindly took a picture for us.

I took what I wanted as much as I could eat. French toast, crispy bacon, and others, everything was really tasty. Other guests joined the breakfast. I found by chance a lady who had once visited Chiba City of Japan through Fulbright Exchange Program and we talked much about it.

Good morning lovely dolls. They are from Ohio, JoAnn explained me. They are very famous in Japan as well.

On the terrace are a rocking chair, a swing chair and other comfortable chairs and sofas.

Halloween display in the garden. A large Stars and Stripes was there as well. There is a big pool and a barbecue corner in the garden. The large garden will be a wonderful place in summer.

I wanted to enjoy much in the wonderful William's House, but I had to say good-bye to Barbara. She asked my husband "What do you feel September 11 Tragedy?" My husband answered, "Getting rid of one or two mosquitoes is not enough, and we must dry up the swamp that grow up them." Barbara nodded.
We then drove a beautiful street with trees on which many small bulbs will be decorated on Christmas. We then visited JoAnn's home to say thank you very much. It was sorry that we couldn't meet her husband who was off from home on business. We have had very good days in West Virginia.
