October 12, 2000: Growing tulip

Today, I planted together the bulbs of tulip shown on the left in my flowerbed. They were sent from Toyama prefecture through the joint purchase of Group of Friends Oita Branch. I am expecting beautiful flowers in the next spring.

December 27, 2000(The 76th day): Hello my baby!
On the next day I returned from Hong Kong, I found some buds quietly looking outside world from the ground.

January 14, 2001(The 94th day): Snowy day
The temperature of my garden in the morning was minus two degrees C. I found a slight snow accumulation on the ground for the first time this winter.

The buds of tulip are growing steadily in the coldness, however.

February 25, 2001: A "return" of coldness doesn't give any damages on the buds. They are growing healthy as seen here (The 136th day.)
We have had a couple of warmer days, but it went down very cold this morning. Yes, winter and spring are fighting on Japan Islands for a while, I guess.

I found another bud of tulip. Daffodil started to shoot behind the tulip as well.
at a corner in my garden, I found tiny flowers of crocus that were lured by the warm sunlight for blooming. They look like, however, at a loss of cold air this morning. The messenger flower will soon bring real spring onto my garden. I am expecting for it.

March 26, 2001: Tulip flower is blooming! (165th day)
We have warmed days now. Yesterday's spring rain fed good water to the plants in my garden.

The buds of tulip are growing steadily.
I have been expecting that the buds would soon take a color. This morning, I found a small red flower behind the leaves of daffodil.

I planted the mini-tulip for the first time. I realized that it is really lovely with unexpectedly brilliant color. The height is about 10 cm.

The pink flower on the left is Oxalis.

April 4, 2001: Tulip started to bloom (174th day)

Warm days urged the tulip to grow higher and bloom.
It seems me that we have rather more yellow flowers this year.

april 7, 2001: The tulip is at its best (177th day)

The day before yesterday, I visited Ogata town to see the tulip fields .
More than 300 thousands tulips were in bloom beautifully. Today, we have a warm clear day. The tulip in my garden have full-bloomed as well.

April 14, 2001: Thank you, my dear tulips (185th day)
The tulips in my garden have regaled me so long time. The flower started to die quietly. In a couple of days or so, I will pick the flowers and make the plant rest in the soil for the next year. Thank you very much so long time.

One of my old friends came to see me and spoke well of the beauty. Could you hear of it, my tulip?

THE END
