Oita municipal industrial exhibition will be held in October. COARA was asked from the officials to open an "Experiment corner of the Internet." We are now preparing for it.
This evening, we had the third meeting. I brought my home made cooky to the meeting and my husband joined it on his way back home. Many volunteers took place in it including Mr.Ono, secretariat of COARA. The exhibition hall offers us three spans of the booth as anticipated. What we should do is to create an attractive demonstration corner. Many ideas sprung up:
how about to make instant home pages of the visitors, how about to distribute commemorative COARA seals? We talked much about our ideas. I love the preparation, indeed.

Yesterday, I got a news that my friend's husband passed away. He has been struggling against his illness for two years. Despite of it, he went to the office for work when he was in good condition. As I thought he was heading toward recovery, the sudden death was a big shock for me. The wake was held last night and I attended to the funeral. The friend was making her best efforts to act as the chief mourner but I it was almost more than I could take to see her. I prayed the soul of the deceased asking to watch his remained wife and two daughters from the other world.

Typhoon No.19 landed Kagoshima and crossed Miyazaki and Oita. I feel we have more typhoons than usual that directly hit Oita area this year. The typhoon moved slowly and consequently rained for a long time. The total amount of the rain by the typhoon paralleled to the whole amount of a year in some areas, causing mud avalanches everywhere. Many houses were covered with water also here in Oita. Fortunately as my house is located on a hill, we didn't have any damage. I appreciate all the people who sent me inquiry messages including overseas friends. As I am publishing on the net "An on-line report of rice growing", I was anxious about the condition of the rice paddies under storm. But I was quite relieved to find they were OK.

We had a meeting this evening titled as "A just fancy Ebisu Beer Club" at hotel Kurebe in Oita city. This is one of the celebration events of the new opening of Sapporo beer's manufacturing plant in Hita city. All attendants were women because this was "Women's Network." The only one male attendant was Mr.Hiramatsu, governor of Oita prefecture. Many active 75 women joined the party this evening. I was among them along with my friend Miss Yamasaki of COARA and Miss Tomonari. Unexpectedly I saw many friends and enjoyed a pleasant talk with them.
