I made a big bargain today through the Internet for the first time. I purchased a second hand computer to use as a sub machine in my home. This is because the former IBM computer was unexpectedly crushed just in two years and the maker said it was hard to repair. I decided to switch to Fujitsu machine, the same Japanese product as the new computer I bought in May. I will take all reusable parts such as memory, hard disk, and modem out of the crushed IBM and configure them to the second hand machine for up grading.

June 3, 1997

Today, we had the June meeting of Group of Friend. Our group was in charge of cooking. We prepared it yesterday in advance and went out early in the morning for the meeting. After the meeting, I had a pleasant lunch together with 30 members of the group. Today's menu was chicken galantine, stewed salad of carrot, marinated cabbage mixed with dried bonito flakes, clear soup of sea weed and tofu, and rice.

June 18, 1997

Today, I went to Ohga farmto work. The main menu of the restaurant were finally set up and the dishes were served to the company members for tasting. Included were roasted meat stuffed with herb, salad marinated with herb, and canapes decorated with herb. Next time I have to make an idea for the dessert. I also handed over the cakes which I was asked to make from a friend of mine who lives near the herb garden. The cake will be distributed at the wedding party of her son's on next Saturday. I was filled with a joy during I baked them.

June 19, 1997

I have an Internet friend in New York. His father was passed away in Tokyo. My friend urgently came home for the funeral service. I understand that he must have been disappointing because he couldn't present on the final moment of his father's death. I telegraphed him my condolences. In order to pray his father's soul may rest in peace, I visited a nearby old stone Buddhist images site called Takase that holds many images carved in the late Heian era, about 750 years ago. We have many stone Buddhist sites here in Oita. I took the pictures of the image and sent some of them to the friend.

June 26, 1997

A basic course was held at Group of Friend Oita branch in which I am involved. I have long been preparing for it. There are many troubles in young families on their daily lives. This time the course will highlight and investigate in detail on the "morning" of life. In the first course, I talked about the effective time keeping of the life and how to clean the house. Many attendants were listening to my talk so eagerly that made me very nervous.

June 28, 1997

A meeting titled "A tea party for female users of the Internet" was held at Soft Park sponsored by Hyper Network Society Research Institute. The ladies and those women interested kindly prepared for the meeting. In spite of the bad weather of typhoon No.8 crossing Kyushu island, more than 50 women took part in and discussed on the theme. I realized anew that so many women are interested in the Internet. I talked about how I enjoyed it. After introducing each other, our table members enjoyed a net surfing and agreed to cooperate to make a home page. I have had a very pleasant time indeed.
