June 10: Wandering about mid Virginia | |
We drive around Virginia state without reserving any lodgings. We seek for a motel from the running car in evening. Since we had a hard time late last night, we have decided our minds to find a motel earlier in the evening. We found a billboard like this and stopped the car. |
Checking items to decide a lodging is cleanliness, security, and rate. Then I negotiate at the office of a motel or inn about the rate including any available discount like AAA, senior, and major cards usage. After confirmation, I get a room key. |
This motor lodge, Fork Unit, has white based appearance with calm interior. The room is spacious enough to accommodate two double beds. |
Bathroom is of clean white. Many clean towels are in the room. Bathing unit has a glass slide door separating from toilet and closet on the right. This is very nice lodge for only $48. |
After a while, we got out of the room. This is the front yard of the lodge. Open clean lawns are everywhere in the US. |
We drove out seeking for shopping store. Just a minute drive takes us to country field. On the opposite side of the road plays a pheasant....no stores at all. Finally we found such a corner, a local shopping center with a simple supermarket, a drag store, a hardware, a clothing, and two restaurants. The center is a life line of the small community. I bought tooth paste and Band-Aid. |
Next to the lodge was a splendid Military Academy like this. The lodge has a popular restaurant to which community people come and enjoy chatting over meal. |
