September 15: On Respect for the Aged Day, a distant typhoon brought us a slight rainfall after long hot and humid days. (Reported by Mie)

a typhoon is aiming eastern part of Japan. I hope it will pass over Japan without big damage. Here in Oita, the distant typhoon finally brought us a slight rainfall and coolness we have been waiting for a long time. In the cool evening, the rain was over and we went for a walk to view the landscape after the rain. It is after six in the evening now. The sky is covered with black clouds, the remnant of the typhoon, in the sky aglow with the setting sun I feel something eerie.

Mt. Tsurumi (right) and Mt. Yufu (left) are silhouetted against the evening sky. The sun has set behind the mountains, leaving darkening black clouds in the middle of the sky.

Some of the seven flowers of autumn were blooming brilliantly in the dusk.

from the left: Kudzu vine, white bushclover, and white cluster amaryllis.
