Japanese December 22, 2005: A cold wave |
|
I found myself in the white world this morning. My garden was covered with pure white snow. Yes, the strongest cold wave in this winter hit whole Japan islands, TV said.
The red nuts of the holly tree were covered with snow beautifully.
Our cars still sleep under the snow.
I walked out carefully. The street was covered with snow as well, but we had a beautiful blue sky in the morning.
But the street was jammed up with commuting cars.
Even a patrol car appeared to sort out the traffic jam and accident.
Streets, fields, distant hills and mountains were covered with heavy snow under the snow clouds. |
|
Was the traffic accident sorted already? The frozen slope was still congested with snowed up cars that had no snow tire or chain.
Cars were left locked in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Have the people headed office on foot?
Spinach and Japanese radish were under the snow. |
Rice fields after the crop was covered with snow as well. |
Old stone monuments sit still in the cold
wind. It was unusual to have such deep snow lay in the suburbs of Oita City. I wondered how the snow was deep in the mountainous areas. We have colder days with occasional snow fall in those days. It would be hard to the traffic all though the day. Weather forecast says we will have another cold days for a while. Let's take care. |
