January 29- February 1, 2004: Invited to a seminar in iCAP Mie COARA January 29: To Nagoya City |
|
I flew in Nagoya from Oita to attend a meeting sponsored by iCAP Mie COARA to be held in Kuwana City. Some 350years ago, I used to be a resident of suburban Nagoya and visited this air port. The port was turned to an International air port. |
|
I got married in Himeji City and moved to Nagoya after 40 days. I had lived there until 1970. Nagoya is one of my dear old town. Nagoya Central Tower stands high with 245 meters from the ground. |
|
I soon got an elevator up to the view deck on 51st floor. Just 36 second in the box took me to the deck with the altitude of 170 meters. I could enjoy a wonderful landscape in all the directions. Nagoya Castle is under the sight. |
|
The view deck features its beautiful floor carpet like this.
The first thing to do on arrival at Nagoya is to take Kishimen noodle, one of the special food. This is why I soon visited a restaurant called Rokumi on the 13th floor. The taste was good as I had expected. I remember it was much thicker in taste before.
Sky scrapers are good to see, but a spacious square of Nagoya railroad station is as good as before. I was delighted to find an old monument called "The Great Building and the Globe" I had once admired.
"EXPO 2005 AICHI,JAPAN" has already started here as an image character Morizou appeared.
I visited Sakae-Machi, the core of Great Nagoya. The TV tower was soaring high in the plain. The tower was of the first TV-exclusive facility in Japan built in 1954. The height is 180 meters. For your reference Tokyo Tower is 3330 meters high.
A sort of "Space Base" building. On the left is Aichi Art and Culture Center.
The ceiling is made of glass filled with water in it. Visitors can walk around the pool rim.
The long downstairs is visible clearly through the water. It will lead you to the basement floor. After looking around the building, I took a train to Kuwana, today's destination. |
