February 16, 2002: Secretary-general Mr. Kann showed up

One warm sunny day in early spring, Mr. Naoto Kann, the Secretary-general of Democratic Party showed up at the plaza of our Fujimigaoka community. As I have been just watching him on a TV, I was interested to hear from him directly.

Many people are waiting for him.

A rally of Democratic Party will be held today's afternoon in downtown Oita. Kann managed his busy time to visit this local community. What will he appeal as the Secretary-general of the top opposition party of Japan?
Now he has just arrived (center.)

Ban Kugimiya, a local legislator Bann Kugimiya introduces Mr. Kann.

Mr. Kann, a good guy, started his talk. He was born in Ube City and grown up by viewing Kunisaki peninsula near Oita. In the early stage of Koizumi Cabinet, he supported the prime minister, but recently he is changing his evaluation on Koizumi, he said. He then appealed his party's policy to boost up the economy lingering below the surface. President Bush will visit Japan tomorrow. Many Japanese are now interested in politics. I think this is a good thing.
