July 5, 2000: Blue flags in full bloom on Lake Kagurame Park
A scene of beautiful blue flags on Lake Kagurame was again aired on a local TV this morning. The flower was not in bloom at all when we visited the lake last month. As the flowers look like in their best today, we drove up there in the afternoon. The air cooled down when we drove up closing to the lake. In a marsh looking up Mt. Yufu in the distance, there are so many beautiful blue flags in full bloom.
The air is cool, but the sunlight is very strong. I need a parasol.
I found it! Yes, this is a remote-controlled TV camera that airs the scene every morning on TV. This camera monitors the blooming regularly, I see.
The irises are really beautiful and large. You see a bee in the center of the white flower on the right? The bee gets in and out from the petals. It may enjoy the sweet nectar.
There is a sample field in the park that displays many kinds of iris with old elegant names on the tags near them.

This pale-violet kind is tagged as "White Japan See."
A beautiful wooden bridge leads us to the other side of the lake. Whirligig beetles are pleasantly swimming on the surface of the water.
A beautiful garden looking back from the bridge. Many visitors enjoy the park.
On the way back to the parking lot are many beautiful hydrangeas as well.
I am very happy today to see many beautiful iris flowers.
