June 5: Firefly watching

A lot of fireflies are flickering on our mailing list.

My close friend Mr. Miyase came and said to go out for firefly watching. Fist, we visited Nanase River Park nearby. The river is famous for its rich sweet fish habitat.
The Municipal Park was opened last summer as a waterfront. On the handrail of the bridge are lovely symbol marks of firefly.
On last weekend, a firefly watching festival was held here. A lot of people are walking around tonight as well looking for firefly or enjoy cool night.
Hydrangeas on the riverbank are already in full bloom. We walked through the whole park, but unfortunately we could see just a couple of fireflies flickering in the distance.
As my expectation was so big, I was very disappointed tonight. We gave up. On our way home, we dropped in an old small stream near a paddy field. We could see many fireflies on the stream.

The kid watches a firefly caught by his dad in his palm.
After a while, he released it over the stream.
It is very nice to see so many fireflies in a nearby stream.
